  1. Hi Guys what a great site I've just joined :):)
We are in the process of making raised garden beds from our rain water tank that was hit by lightning earlier this year. We need to cover them completley so the wild life doesn't eat it !We want to put black poly pipe like you have , can you tell me what size poly pipe you have used please and what have you attatched it to at the bottom are they star pickets or some thing else I cannot make it out from picture. look forward to hearing from you soon as we are keen to finish the project. we are thinking about lining them ith shade cloth so the tree roots don't take out the garden beds !
    Sherrie :):) have a great day !

  2. Hi Sherrie & Thanks, we like yours as well....
We used 2 sizes of pipe, 1½" & 2" Rural (green stripe) pipe... We got the smaller size for free so have had to drill holes through it to be able to wire it to the Star pickets...
The larger 2" pipe will slide over some of the smaller Pickets but not some of the old school ones we bought about 10 years ago so it pays to check...
I drilled holes at the bottom of the larger pipe & lined them up to the holes in the picket & wired them in place to help keep the pipe in position.... We used "Top hat" roofing sections as the spacing between the hoops just to give it some strength & the cloth support...

Weed matting was used under our beds to keep the Mango & Chinese Elm roots out... I think shade cloth will still let the smaller roots through & they will stretch the cloth as they grow IYKWIM... Weed matting will have to be purchased new but is WAY cheaper than shade cloth....
    HTH some...
